Fraud & Scam Warning

BPX does not provide services to members of the public and does not ask members of the public to send money or provide personal information. If someone contacts you unexpectedly claiming to represent BPX by telephone, email, WhatsApp, another messaging service or social media, it may be a scam. Fraudsters impersonating financial services firms like us, have become increasingly common. They may copy a firm’s name, branding, contact details and even staff names to appear legitimate, then use that as a basis to defraud people. All our email addresses end with @bpx.exchange

Protect yourself from scams

  • Be alert to the warning signs of a scam (described below)
  • Never provide any information that can be used to access your bank account or investment account, such as your password, PIN, or a two-factor authentication code. No legitimate bank or financial services provider will ask for this information.
  • Never send any money based solely on a phone call or a website without separately verifying that the service and recipient are legitimate.

The warning signs of a scam

These include someone contacting you claiming to represent BPX and:

  • They contacted you out of the blue rather than you initiating the contact
  • There’s pressure on you to act quickly, for example “before the opportunity closes”
  • They claim that an investment is exclusive, reserved for you or is confidential
  • You’re asked to move funds to a third-party account
  • You’re asked to share a username, password, PIN or similar information which provides secure access to your bank or investment account
  • They ask you to download software, share your screen, grant access to a device or install an app in connection with an investment
  • They promise investment returns or terms which sound too good to be true

If you suspect that you’ve been the target of a scam…….

  • Do not send any money or share any information
  • If you’ve shared your personal information or you’ve made a payment, contact your bank immediately.
